So, it has been over a year since I have posted here. A lot has been going on, but everything seems to be changing so fast I hesitate to start writing. The reception coming up next will be for an artist that is not so well known yet, but the content he is bringing is so unique that I hope you will please join us to celebrate his first adventure showing his work.
Clearwater Healing is having drop-in meetings at the gallery every Saturday morning from 10:30 till 12 noon until further notice. I am trying to find a way to post more information about this group that supports women who have undergone trauma, so more info will come soon. We are not giving up, and we hope to hear from you all, soon. Cassandra Braley began working with Spiral Muse Gallery in 2012. After completing an internship, she moved away from Salem, but maintains an ongoing relationship with the gallery. Meanwhile she continues to develop as an artist and create her mixed media art works. She will be bringing her newest work to the gallery for an opening reception on October 1, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Work will be available for sale and viewing throughout the month of October. Please come on October 1 to welcome her and her exhibition.
The future scheduled Beatles Theme Shows have been cancelled to make room for exhibitions by local featured artists. Whether you are an established artist or an aspiring talent, please visit the gallery and discuss the possibility of having your own exhibition and reception. Salem has talent, and we love to support and promote new work.
Summer months are great for walking around town and touring the galleries in downtown in Salem, Oregon. Bring in some art to show at our July 5th reception "Twist and Shout", or just pop up to see what some of the local artists are doing and have a refreshment!
The "Michelle" Exhibit will be the third in a series of twelve sponsored by Spiral Muse for the nonprofit Spiral Muse Alternative Services (SMAS). SMAS has a mission to provide art experience for disadvantaged members of the local community. For each month in 2014 and for January of 2015 a theme based on a Beatles song has been assigned. First, Second and Third places will be awarded by impartial jurors. The art must be delivered and ready to hang or display by the date assigned for the reception, which will be the first Saturday of each month. The pieces will be exhibited until the following reception where winners identified by the jurors will be announced. If the artist chooses, the art may be sold at the gallery for a 35% commission based on the retail price of each piece. Jury fees of $10.00 per piece, or three pieces for $25 apply to these exhibits. The calendar for the remaining shows is: "Michelle" art due by April 5th Reception "Here Comes the Sun" art due by May 3rd Reception "Strawberry Fields Forever" art due by June 7th Reception "Twist and Shout" art due by July 5th Reception "Ticket to Ride" art due by August 2nd Reception "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" art due by September 6th Reception "Let it Be" art due by October 4th Reception "Yesterday" art due by November 1st Reception "Lady Madonna" art due by December 6th Reception "Imagine" art due by January 3rd, 2015 Reception Hello Friends!
